Publishing best practices on designing streets for kids
Design Associate, with NACTO’s Global Designing Cities Initiative, 2019
Context
This guide offers a combination of design strategies that can be used on a variety of common street typologies, and approaches the process of designing streets inclusively, through engagement with children, local community members, and political officials.
Contributions
With NACTO-GDCI, I managed the visual design of Designing Streets for Kids, a 230-page publication offering guidance on designing more child-friendly cities through making design decisions on the street level that prioritize safety, accessibility and space for play.
As the only full-time designer, I managed the graphic identity, in alignment with past NACTO Design Guides, designed all layouts, created graphics (including all graphics shown in these selected spreads), managed interns and contract designers to support a portion of the graphic production, and coordinated the print publishing process.
