Redesigning streets to save pedestrian lives
Design Associate, with NACTO’s Global Designing Cities Initiative, 2019
Context
With NACTO-GDCI, I supported the implementation of a street design transformation project in front of CSMT station in downtown Mumbai, India. In close coordination with local city partners, our team redesigned the geometry of this intersection with safety and public life taken into consideration, as well as organization and efficiency of movement for all road users.
Contributions
Leading up to the implementation of the project, I designed the painted pattern and purpose for the reclaimed pedestrian space in tandem with the Historic Preservation Society, prepared for and facilitated engagement with the community, drafted and embargoed materials for media outets, briefed local supporting staff, and coordinated with local partner organizations to ensure seamless collaboration on launch day.
